Perhaps you remember the play, I do remember the movie (1968)\u00a0Lion in Winter. <\/em>I had a crush on Katherine Hepburn, closely followed by Anthony Hopkins. Peter O’Toole left me cold….<\/p>\n

Wikipedia’s synopsis:\u00a0Set during\u00a0Christmas\u00a01183 at\u00a0Henry II of England’s\u00a0castle in Chinon,\u00a0Anjou,\u00a0Angevin Empire, the story\u00a0opens with the arrival of Henry’s wife\u00a0Eleanor of Aquitaine, whom he has had imprisoned since 1173. The story concerns the gamesmanship between Henry, Eleanor, their three surviving sons\u00a0Richard,\u00a0Geoffrey, and\u00a0John, and their Christmas Court guest, the\u00a0King of France,\u00a0Philip II\u00a0Augustus\u00a0(French:\u00a0Philippe Auguste<\/span>), who was the son of Eleanor’s ex-husband,\u00a0Louis VII of France\u00a0(by his third wife,\u00a0Adelaide). Also involved is Philip’s half-sister\u00a0Alais\u00a0(by Louis VII’s second wife\u00a0Constance), who has been at court since she was betrothed to Richard at age eight, but has since become Henry’s mistress.<\/em><\/p>\n

Let us imagine the lions below in these roles. Or let us exchange them for the current king, his imprisoned wife in the White House North, his three children, and whoever the mistress of the moment might be (Henry II was no slouch on that score either…..)<\/p>\n
